Animals play an important role in our life contemporary. Pets are more common to be put in the commercials world. To discuss why animals are more likely to be noticed for humans, there are some sources to be noticed.
The dog commercial is from the official site of the car company- Subaru.
According to Natasha Braunwart "These creatures are capable of eliciting diverse reactions from humans, anything from a longer gaze to an emotional cry. This is why the fascination and use of animals in our culture has become so valuable(2015)".
Animals are use for enhance consumer's brand engagement.
Braunwart has also mentioned that "In the time since humans became less connected to animals in nature, the desire to include them in our everyday lives (through symbolism, domestication, or therapeutic use) has increased(2015)".
In Subaru commercial videos, the main character is an animal, and the dog character is named Buckley. In terms of visual expression, it replaces humans with an animal perspective. The car company uses animals to tell stories that represent love for pets and give buyers and consumers a warm feeling. The visual presentation of animals is cute and interesting, which can not only attract more audiences but also attract more consumers. In this way of consumption and commercialization, the vision of sweet animals can be used to create more people's love. In media communication, the influence of visual communication can also bring benefits.
When I first saw this commercial video, I felt that the role of dogs was used to narrate people's life stories. The elements of happiness, sadness, and peace, but the whole visual was more attractive because of the perspective of animals. The concept of a dog's role is used to express otherness, and consumers will be interested through analysis. This not only makes a good impression on the brand company but also involves social issues, such as the safety of the dog in the car. When we look at the world visually, the visual images produced by the characters can bring "message" to people, from which we can analyze the information carried by the visual impressions.
Wally Sommer, president of Sommer's Subaru in Mequon said, "I think the commercial and the marketing really clearly delivers the message to the customer that Subaru is different and is trying to work in the communities through their retailers and trying to be, and I think succeeding, in being more than just a car company." In advertising, short-time delivery of information is essential, and visual information can make people have a deep impression on the product.
